Southeast Asia is the charter market that fills the Mediterranean's winter. Phuket, the Andaman islands, Komodo, Raja Ampat and the Philippines all charter through the months when Europe is laid up, and the boats are often the same designs run by the same international operators. What is different is that almost nothing here is priced publicly, even by the companies that publish freely elsewhere.
The season is the whole planning problem
The Andaman coast around Phuket charters best from November to April, which is exactly when the Mediterranean is closed. Indonesia's Komodo season runs roughly April to September and Raja Ampat's is October to April, so the two halves of Indonesia are almost opposite. A Southeast Asian charter is therefore rarely a substitute for a Mediterranean one at the same time of year; it is what you do instead in the other half of the calendar.

Distances are longer and the anchorages are deeper, so a week covers less ground than a Greek or Croatian one. Many Indonesian itineraries are effectively crewed expeditions rather than bareboat weeks, because the cruising is remote and the charts are worse. If you are used to Mediterranean bareboat, expect the company to ask harder questions and expect more of the week to be planned for you.
