Sailboat rental Greece: what a week on a monohull costs, and where rent a sailboat in Greece means a day instead

Greece rents sailboats two ways and the word is the same for both. The week long charter from a base, handed over on a Saturday with a briefing and a deposit, is the main market. The day sail from an island quay with a skipper aboard is the other, and on Santorini or Mykonos it is most of what is actually sold. The prices are not comparable and the searches mix them freely.

A week from a base

Read on 11 September 2026, Nautilus Yachting prices a one week charter on a two to three cabin monohull from around 900 GBP in low season, and Istion Yachting prices named boats from its own fleet at 3.510 EUR for a Bali Catspace and 4.950 for an Excess 14. The Moorings starts a seven day Greek charter for two at 2,634 USD. The gap between those is the season, the size and whether a skipper comes with it.

A day from an island

Sailo lists 29 boats at Santorini at an average of 1,612 EUR a day, from 350 to 9,600. Among them a 34 foot Dufour Gibsea for eight guests with a captain is 380 EUR for eight hours, a 36 foot Abbate Primatist for four is 1,000 EUR for four hours, and an 18 foot license free boat for five is 250 EUR for four hours. That is the island day market and it is what most visitors to the Cyclades actually buy.

Monohull rather than catamaran

In Greece the monohull is usually the right rental. It sails upwind, which matters in the Cyclades where the meltemi blows from the north for days; it fits a stern to berth on a town quay where a catamaran is often refused or charged double in August; and it costs roughly half. The catamaran wins on space at anchor and in the Ionian's lighter afternoons, and nowhere else on this coast.
