Menorca is the Balearic island that stayed quiet, and its charter market reflects that: there is a fleet at Mahon and Ciutadella but it is small, and most boats that visit come from Mallorca ninety miles west. What the island has instead is the best anchoring in the Balearics, a chain of limestone calas along the south coast with sand bottoms and pine to the water.
Where the boats come from
Read on 11 September 2026, Click and Boat lists 9,443 boats across Spain at an average of 599 EUR a day from a floor of 235, and Sailo lists 406 at Palma de Mallorca from 331 EUR a day to 8,500. Neither marketplace returns a priced Menorcan fleet of any size, which is a fact about the island rather than about the marketplaces: Mahon and Ciutadella hold local operators, and the charter volume is at Palma.
Private boat charter, Menorca: the south coast calas
Cala Macarella, Macarelleta, Mitjana, Turqueta and Trebaluger, running west from Cala Galdana: narrow limestone inlets with white sand, three to six metres of water and pine growing to the edge. Most have no road access and the ones that do are full by ten in the morning, which is why a boat changes the island completely. The whole chain is inside eight miles of coast.
Mahon, and the north coast
Mahon has one of the deepest natural harbours in the Mediterranean, three miles long, and it is the safest place in the Balearics in a blow. The north coast is a different island: red rock, exposed to the tramuntana, with Fornells the one real shelter, a long shallow inlet that is the island's windsurfing center. Most weeks stay south and use the north only in settled weather.
