Yacht charter Bora Bora: prices inside the lagoon and the week from Raiatea

Bora Bora is a single volcanic peak inside a lagoon inside a barrier reef, about six miles across, and the whole charter question there is whether you stay inside it or use it as one stop on a longer week. The lagoon is shallow, calm and the color everyone has seen in photographs. Outside the reef is open Pacific.

What a Bora Bora catamaran charter costs for the day

Read on 11 September 2026, Sailo lists a captained 40 foot Nautitech catamaran for ten guests at Bora Bora at 868 EUR for eight hours and a 23 foot Kelt White Shark for six at 454 EUR for four hours. Across French Polynesia as a whole it lists 99 boats at an average of 868 EUR a day, and Click and Boat lists 163 at an average of 660 EUR a day, from 30 to 1,175.

Inside the lagoon

The lagoon is two to twenty metres deep with coral heads through it, three passes in the reef of which only Teavanui on the west side is navigable by a yacht, and a fringe of motu, the flat sand islets on the reef itself. A day inside it is snorkelling the coral gardens, the manta and ray sites on the eastern side, and lunch off a motu. Navigation is by eye between marked coral, which is why almost everything is captained.

Bora Bora as part of a week

Most French Polynesian charters start at Raiatea, which has the airport and the fleets, and run Taha'a, Bora Bora and Huahine over a week. Bora Bora is twenty miles north west of Taha'a across open water and is the furthest point of the standard loop. Chartering in Bora Bora itself means a day boat; chartering the Leeward Islands means a week from Raiatea, and the difference in what you see is large.

Can you bareboat inside the lagoon?

Rarely. The lagoon is laced with coral heads and navigation is by eye between marked patches, with only the Teavanui pass usable by a yacht, so the local fleet is almost entirely captained.
