Superyacht chartering runs on a different contract from the bareboat market, and the rate is only the start of it. Two sources read for this record do publish, one in Greece and one on the French Riviera, and between them they turn the usual guesswork into a real range that runs from tens of thousands a week to over a million.
Private yacht cost: the published crewed weeks, and what they are
Istion Yachting prices its entire Greek fleet in public, crew included. Read on 11 September 2026 on its own fleet listing: a Bugari 112 with a crew of six from 55.000 EUR a week, and a Maiora 126 of 2006 refitted in 2023, 12 guests in six cabins with a crew of eight, from 98.000 EUR a week, both cruising the Greek islands out of Athens. Those figures are quoted here from that listing rather than linked, because the listing is the company's front page rather than a document with its own address; its charter guide, linked below, is the document that carries the terms around them.
Where the published market actually reaches
YachtCharterFleet's French Riviera page lists weekly rates against named yachts: Northern Sun, a 51m Narasaki carrying 12 guests, from 161,700 USD a week; Purpose, a 55m Trinity, from 270,000; Galileo, a 56m Picchiotti, from 325,000; Aqua Lares, a 77m carrying 30 guests, from 539,000; Lunasea, a 73m Feadship, from 800,000; and Romea, an 82m Abeking & Rasmussen, from 1,277,000. Those are the highest published weekly figures in this record, and they show the 12,000 USD Miami listing on the same broker's site for what it is: the entry to its range rather than the top of a market.
The APA, which is not optional and not small
An Advance Provisioning Allowance is a float paid to the captain before the charter, commonly a substantial share of the fee, from which fuel, food, drink, berthing, port charges and similar running costs are met as they arise. What is unspent returns to you with the accounts at the end. It is charged on top of every crewed rate above, it is in none of them, and a superyacht budget that omits it is not a budget.
What the surrounding terms look like
Istion's charter guide states the insurance and deposit side in figures, which is rarer still: skipper's liability cover of 10.000.000 EUR, security deposits covered up to 125.000 EUR where a yacht is impounded in a foreign port, and the owner's loss of charter income covered up to 25.000 EUR. It also prices the fuel a charterer should expect at 200 to 400 EUR a week for a monohull and 500 to 700 EUR for a catamaran, which are bareboat figures and a small fraction of what a crewed motor yacht burns.
How much to charter a Below Deck yacht: what the program leaves out
The yachts on screen are real charter yachts and the rates they imply are broadly real, but the format compresses a season into an episode. A week aboard is a week: the crew are working professionals, the itinerary is agreed in advance, and the extras are itemised and reconciled against the allowance. If that program is your reference point, the useful correction is that the boat is the smaller part of the arrangement and the crew and the provisioning are the larger.
Questions people ask about how much does it cost to charter a superyacht
How much is a superyacht charter per week?
Istion Yachting publishes a Bugari 112 with a crew of six from 55.000 EUR a week and a Maiora 126 with a crew of eight from 98.000 EUR a week on its Greek fleet listing, read on 11 September 2026.
What is an APA?
An Advance Provisioning Allowance: a float paid to the captain before the trip covering fuel, food, drink, berthing and port charges, reconciled against accounts at the end. It is charged on top of the charter fee.
Why do so few companies publish superyacht rates?
Most do not, but brokers list them. YachtCharterFleet publishes Riviera yachts from 161,700 USD a week to 1,277,000, and Istion Yachting publishes Greek crewed motor yachts at 55.000 and 98.000 EUR, read on 11 September 2026.
What else is charged on a crewed charter?
Fuel, berthing, port and park fees, food and drink, and the crew gratuity, most of them through the APA. Istion's charter guide prices bareboat fuel alone at 200 to 400 EUR a week for a monohull.
