A private charter on the Amalfi coast is a boat, a crew and a berthing problem. The cruising is short and spectacular, the anchorages are good in settled weather, and the harbours between Sorrento and Salerno are small enough that a berth in August costs more per night than a modest bareboat costs per week elsewhere in Italy.

Short hops, a lot of time at anchor, and a tender that earns its keep. It is a looking-and-swimming week rather than a sailing one, which is why motor yachts dominate the local charter fleet.
What a private charter includes
The yacht and its crew. Fuel, food, drink, berthing and port charges are separate and, on a fully crewed boat, run through an Advance Provisioning Allowance paid before the trip and reconciled at the end.
