Malta is three islands in twenty seven miles of water, with the Blue Lagoon at Comino in the middle of them and Grand Harbour at one end. It is a day charter market almost entirely, because there is nowhere to sail to that is more than an hour away and the nearest foreign coast is Sicily, sixty miles north.
Yacht rental Malta: two readings of the same market
Read on 11 September 2026, Sailo lists 103 boats in reach of Malta at an average of 2,820 EUR a day, from 550 to 10,900, and Click and Boat lists 487 at an average of 887 EUR a day, from 188 to 2,115. Those are not contradictory: the two marketplaces carry different fleets, with Sailo weighted to large crewed motor yachts out of Grand Harbour and Click and Boat to small bareboats and RIBs.
Where a Maltese day goes
The Blue Lagoon between Comino and Cominotto, which is the single most visited anchorage in the country and is full of trip boats by ten in the morning. The caves at the western end of Comino. Gozo, for Ramla Bay and the Dwejra inland sea. Or south round Grand Harbour and the Three Cities, which is the best thing to look at on this water and the least crowded thing to do on it.
A catamaran: Malta's party boats and whether a private one is worth it
Malta's catamaran market is largely party boats sold by the seat rather than the boat, and a private catamaran for a group is at the upper end of the Sailo range. For a family the better value is a small motor cruiser or a RIB, which reaches the same anchorages, costs a fifth as much and does not need a berth. A catamaran earns its money here only if the party size makes it so.
Questions people ask about boat rental Malta
How much is a boat rental in Malta?
Sailo lists 103 boats averaging 2,820 EUR a day, from 550 to 10,900, and Click and Boat lists 487 averaging 887, from 188 to 2,115, read on 11 September 2026.
Why do the two figures differ so much?
They are different fleets. Sailo's Maltese listings lean towards large crewed motor yachts out of Grand Harbour, and Click and Boat's towards small bareboats and RIBs, so the averages describe different products.
Where should you go for the day?
The Blue Lagoon at Comino, but early, because the trip boats fill it by ten. The Comino caves, Gozo's Ramla Bay, or a circuit of Grand Harbour and the Three Cities, which is the least crowded option.
